2001 Ducati 900SS

As a current owner, I am happy to say that the relationship is going well. A solid and fun all around scoot with enough umph to get you into trouble when you feel like it and enough civility to be a daily commuter. Quick thoughts: Engine-Slow rever, did an FBF flywheel. Good was faster acceleration, bad was a little less wheelie tendency, stock config will wheelie without ANY work. Big bore kit and a head job sure put some beef into a slightly lathargic top end. FBF header makes a BIG difference. Give all the emissions equip the heave-ho if you don't need to have it checked, all the Duc's here in the states are delivered CA legal and it does add some weight. Seems to run much smoother on the synthetics/blends. Suspension-Drop the forks 10-15mm, just trust me on this one. Best settings seem to be about six clicks out from full stiff on comp/rebound front and rear and about 25% out from full stiff on the preloads. Came from the dealer at almost full soft on all settings. Tires-Pirelli Dragons seem to work much better than stock buns. Go up to a 180 on the rear. Other-Do yourself a huge favor and ditch the stock seat! Sargent or Corbin will do nicely, I've tried both with no complaints. There are tons of good places to shed some pounds on this bike, mine is below 400# wet! After three years I can't say I've had any major problems but I do my own whenching so I can't really chew out my mechanic. This is not a motorcycle for outright speed or handling, buy a new Suzuki if that's what you are looking for. When your too young to ride a Hog and too old to piss off the cops for shits and grinns, this might be your ride.
